    SOKOMIND PLUS ( NUMBERED SOKOBAN ) - A SOKOBAN VARIANT :

At October 22, 2000 SokoMind Plus born ! (I can't find date but ";)" I looked for date at SokoMind Plus version 3.2.0.231 's exe file "modified date")

First implemented by Gerald Holler in SokoMind Web page closed, where "some or all" boxes with number tags must each be moved to a specific target tile and not just any one (the corresponding target squares).

SokoMind Plus levels are stored in .xsb files. (fully like Sokoban)
At SokoMind v3.4, Kevin B. REILLY has first 20 SokoMind Plus levels. (same levels at SokoMind v3.2)

Sokofan - Sokoban & SokoMindPlus & Hexoban & HexobanPlus & Multiban & MultibanPlus Levels support.
Sokomind v3.4 Web page closed- Sokoban & SokoMindPlus Levels support with level editor

DESCRIBE SOKOMIND PLUS LEVELS : (Getting from Sokofan's readme.txt file that you can find after installing Sokofan's Setup.exe)

There is no special file extension for levels of the SokoMind Plus variant.
There are simply two additional lines below the level map text with a list of tag numbers belonging to boxes and target locations (in the order they appear on the map - left to right and top to bottom).
    Example :
      Picture from Sokomind
    boxorder 4 1 3 2
    goalorder 1 2 3 4
The box numbered 1 must be on the goal numbered 1, etc for the level to be solved.

Apparently, convention is that tag numbers start from 1. A tag number of 99 means the box/target is not tagged and may pair with any other untagged, target/box. The lists may be shorter than actual count on the map - those not mentioned are simply untagged. Example :
    boxorder 99 1 99 99 2 99
    goalorder 99 99 1 2 99 99
    can be rewritten as
    boxorder 99 1 99 99 2
    goalorder 99 99 1 2

Fully example with my Erim_nr01.xsb :

YHexoban by George Petrov - Download (If some DLL's are not found this could happen on win95/98 systems that have no new software installed). You should consider downloading latest DLL's from Microsoft. Probably some other programs will not run without them. Problem DLL's: MFC42.DLL, MSVCP60.DLL, MSVCRT.DLL.But if you don't want to download new version of DLL's then just get version that does not use DLL's (it's much bigger) from author's web page.

HEXOBAN GAMES FOR OTHER SYSTEMS (A TO Z) :

Macintosh : Hexoban by Scott Lindhurst.
Pocket PC : Hexoban v1.0 by Simbsoft. Isometric engine and create your own levels or modify existing levels in the built-in level editor. Shareware

    DESCRIBE HEXOBAN ANSWERS :

Hexoban Level's Answer's get the "UNLRSDunlrsd" (Up North Left Right South Down) for description solution moves. Upper letters for "pushes" and the lower letters for "moves". Like below :

            Up         North

    Left          @           Right

          South      Down

    Usage :
Lots of Hexoban games accept mouse buttons and move person with following keys with numlock "on" or "off") :

      Home PgUp
          \ /
    Left - @ - Right
          / \
       End PgDn

and specific characters which include in each game's help pages.

The only difference with normal .xsb is that two characters are used to represent each tile, one of which is a space character. The meaningful characters in adjacent lines of map text are found in alternate odd or even column positions.

Sokoban Standart First Level At Hexoban
This interpretation of "Classic Level #1" is not meant to be a strict conversion, but a new puzzle with a similar flow.
The hexagons provide different problems in puzzle construction.
This requires different intersection / blockage situations than those in the original puzzle.

    Erim180.xsb Sokoban Level & Erimhex1.hsb Hexoban Level
"Erim180.xsb" Sokoban Level and "ErimHex1.hsb" Level has same solution way idea.
I don't use any program's xsb to hsb converter because of converters result level, can't satisfaction me, solve way is too different. BUT they must be !

Picture from Sokofan - I also built some hexobanplus levels.

    HEXOBAN UTILS :

Hexoban Editor - 2 Implemented by Victor Kindermans from Belgium.
Paul Voyer's Online Solver (also can be easily use for "level editor" too) Program is Limited to 15 box (still the one and only solver for hexoban and perhaps with his "special permission" I share this program in my web page)
Fabricio C. Zuardi's Hexoban Generator is a hexoban editor, using Flash which runs inside a browser with the Flash Player 5 plugin
HexoDUP v1.12 by George Petrov finds "dublicate" levels of hexoban

    MULTIBAN - A SOKOBAN VARIANT :

At July 2002 Multiban born !
Based on an idea suggested by Alfred PFEIFFER (who include more than one pusher in a maze)

      Picture from Sokofan
Multiban levels are stored in .xsb files.
Alfred Preffeir reports that Sisyphus Web page closed can handle Multiban puzzles. (February 2002) Having multiple keepers allows for puzzles which can not otherwise be solved with only a single warehouse keeper.
Sokofan by Eric Leung supports Sokoban, SokoMind Plus, Hexoban, Hexoban Plus, Multiban, Multiban Plus puzzles. (first version December 2004)
Lee Haywood provides a Multiban online game. (August 2002)
Multiban, in which puzzles contain multiple warehouse keepers. Player which works with Java-enabled web browsers.
Seo Sanghyeon wrote a Python/Tk (August 2002) version of Sokoban which works with Multiban puzzles.

Multiban-Sokoban Level's Answer's get the "UDRLudrl" (Up Down Right Left) and Multiban-Hexoban Level's Answer's get the "UNLRSDunlrsd" (Up North Left Right South Down) for description solution moves. Upper letters for "pushes", the lower letters for "moves" and the selected man (pusher) "[1] [2] [3] ..." for description who push.

Multiban still don't have an editor or solver program.
My Tip : You can easily build your Multiban levels with any "Sokoban Editor", after edit your "still Sokoban", save that and you must open the .xsb file with a text editor and you can add your "more" sokobans into them with adding your "other sokobans". Yes your "Multiban" is ready for play (and share) :)

Erim Sever - All Levels in Text file or download Zip file (seperated all kind) (My first Multiban and Multiban Plus Levels at web at my old Geocities web page 01/March/2005) - Mail

Picture from Sokofan - I also built 1 multibanplus level (The first and only).

    Pseudo-Multiban :

This paragraph is from Alfred PFEIFFER's "multiban" web page

When you collect more than one usual Sokoban mazes into one page you get an Pseudo-Multiban puzzle.

Composed from Yoshio Murase: "Automatically generated Sokoban-puzzles" as a Multiban map by Alfred Pfeiffer, August 2002

Pseudo-Multiban still don't have an editor or solver program.
My Tip : You can be use "Sokoban Editor Programs or Notepad".

    TRIOBAN - A SOKOBAN VARIANT :

    At 2002 Trioban born !
Based on an idea suggested by François MARQUES

François MARQUES invented the triangular-style Trioban puzzle layout, and is the creator of some of the first Trioban puzzles.

      Picture from SokoSave

Trioban levels are stored in .tsb files.

The player can move left, right, diagonally, and either up or down, depending upon the orientation of the traingular tile.
Pushes are weighted to give the crate a leftward or rightward motion. The weighting is controlled by the overall direction of player movement.
For example, if the overall direction of movement of the player is horizontal, then the crate will be pushed in front of the player along a horizontal path. The same rule applies to diagonal movement.

Trioban Level's Answer's get the "UNLRSDunlrsd" (Up North Left Right South Down) for description solution moves. Upper letters for "pushes" and the lower letters for "moves". Like below :
    Usage :
Trioban games accept mouse buttons and move person with following keys with numlock "on" or "off") :

      Home PgUp
          \ /
    Left - @ - Right
          / \
       End PgDn

and specific characters which include in each game's help pages.

MazezaM by Malcom Tyrell supports Sokoban, Hexoban, Trioban, Octoban puzzles, as well as MazezaM puzzles.
SokoSave v5.1b19 by Eric Sunshine & Paul McCarthy supports Sokoban, Hexoban, Trioban puzzles.

Trioban still don't have an editor or solver program.
My Tip : You can (not easily) build Trioban puzzles after think them in a Hexoban Editor. Perhaps best editor is still "Notepad".

    OCTOBAN - A SOKOBAN VARIANT :

    At 2004 Octoban born !
Based on an idea suggested by Malcolm Tyrrell

      Picture from MazezaM
Octoban is played on a tiling of alternating octagons and squares. When standing on an octagon, the player may walk or push in eight directions. When standing on a square, the player may walk or push only in four.
The tiling looks like this :

         /--\
      --/ \--
     | | | |
     /--\ /--\
    / \--/ \
    | | | |
    \ /--\ /
     \--/ \--/

    The .osb File Format :

In order to allow Octoban levels to be easily created and stored, I have defined a simple file format based on the .xsb Sokoban file format.
Lines in a .osb file should be one of:
    1. a row making up a level - contiguous rows are thought to belong to the same level.
    2. a blank line - which can be used to separate levels.
    3. a comment - a line beginning with a ";". This will also separate levels if put between level lines.

MazezaM by Malcom Tyrell supports Sokoban, Hexoban, Trioban, Octoban puzzles, as well as MazezaM puzzles.

    Level Example :
;;Title: Make Way ( title of the following level(s) )
;;Author: Malcolm Tyrrell ( author of the following level(s) )
;;Comment: Easy Octoban level. ( comment about the following level(s) )
      ###

      # *#
     ## #
     #. @####
     ### $$ #
       #. ##
       #####

Octoban still don't have an editor or solver program.
My Tip : I didn't built any Octoban level, maybe best editor is "Notepad" (?)
